The engine started life as a standard 998cc mini A series. The block is bored to +0.020", the rods, crank & flywheel are lightened & balance, a 1300cc 12G940 casting head is fitted & the standard gearbox is replace with a straight cut dog box. The results is an engine which produces 80bhp at the flywheel.

The front end of the car is removable which vastly improves the access to the engine & front suspension. This enables 2 people to just lift an engine in & out of the care with relative ease. You might notice that we do not run a standard mini radiator to the side of the engine but a radiator similar to that which is used in a metro, this allows us to mount it at the front of the car where the best airflow is and it's larger size helps us keep the higher running temperature down.
In order to get the most power out of the engine, the car is often put on a rolling road, this simulates the car running out on the track at maximum revs. Various things can be tweaked & different set ups can be experimentd with in order to acheive the best from the car.
